OUR WHY

If you have read the novel, and we hope you have or will soon, there is a mention of Awaken Coffee. We hope you will read the sequel to come out next spring. In the next novel, we have a new character with Downs Syndrome. As I explored what life looks like for these families, I was compelled to write this character with all the heart I could pour into them. My passion for this community increased as my research took me to a variety of Downs Syndrome organizations across the globe.  Now, that is all I can tell you about that character for now, no more spoilers here. 

As for Carolina Pregnancy Center, one of the characters in the first book has a choice to make about a pregnancy. During this time of research, I learned more about Carolina Pregnancy Center in Greenville, NC. As the character in the book decided, my appreciation for the work the center does locally increased. I would have liked to imagine that she had help from an organization such as Carolina Pregnancy Center. Please join me in bringing an unwrapped gift for newborns. Diapers, bibs, sleepers, blankets, are all good staples on any new mother’s need list.

Once the book launch took place last Spring, I knew I wanted to adopt a couple of organizations to benefit this year. So many readers wanted an event like the ones these ladies would cater and coordinate their celebrations. This enthusiasm from readers sparked the planning of this event to benefit these two organizations. They do good work right here in our area.
